Search our own library collection:
Teachers may either come to the
library in person or send requests by email. Requests can usually be
filled with 24 hours. Teachers may come in the library any time during the day or after
school to look for needed materials.
The library has books, audio and video tapes, CD-Roms, teaching resources such as professional library and other reference materials. We have the annual hard-bound collection of Annual Mailbox Magazine for teacher checkout as well. HISD online databases: Includes resources for students and teachers as well. Teacher resources include FULL TEXT NEWSPAPER AND PERIODICAL DATABASES. Teachers in graduate school or will find the current professional database an invaluable resource. You may search directly from school or if searching from home, refer to the sheet of online resource access codes and passwords to be given in September. Laura Candler's Teacher's File Cabinet - well as forms and activities ready to print and use by subject matter and need. Wide variety of subject resources as classroom organization and management forms. Suzy Red's Little Red Schoolhouse site: Excellent resources for all curriculum areas - tied to TAKS. Education World - "The Educator's Best Friend" as this website describes itself. Hundreds of pages of lesson plans, activities, and articles for educators, and more A to Z Teacher Stuff - hundreds of online lesson plans and ideas for teachers. One of the most popular destinations on the web with over 1 million visits per month Literacy Matters - compendium of information and excellent web links related to literacy for middle grade students. This excellent resource includes sections covering Comprehension Strategies, Reading Response Strategies, Selecting Literature, and Assessment.
