For the second year in a row, West University Elementary will enter the HISD "Name That Book" contest with a team of readers from grades 3,4, and 5.. Our Librarian, Polly Kotarba, is sponsoring the team with parent volunteer leaders, Cathy Winter and Madeline Coblenz.  Team members read a list of 35 books and compete against other HISD school teams who have also read the same books. The actual contest takes place from April 21-25, 2008 with preliminary elimination rounds, and then the finals.  To get ready for this exciting competition, the NTB club meets every Thursday after school from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. starting on October 25th. The competition team of 6 students and one alternate will be chosen in the Spring. Two informational meetings for interested participants and their parents were held in October 2007. Questions? Name That Book Club Kindergarten through 2nd graders

West University Elementary's brand new K – 2^nd Name That Book Club began with an informational meeting for interested participants and their parents on January 14th in the library . Our librarian, Polly Kotarba, is sponsoring the team for the first time with parent volunteer leaders, Cindy Burnett and Jessamy Harrington.  Team members will read a list of 30 books (or have the books read to them) and compete against other HISD school teams who have also read the same books.  The NTB club will meet every Monday after school from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. in the library starting on January 28th.  Approximately three/four of the book titles will be covered at each meetings.  The actual competition team of 6 students and one alternate will be chosen at the end of March, based upon student attendance, book knowledge, and performance.  The contest takes place on May 5-13th with preliminary rounds and then one final competition.  Questions?  Email cburnett5@comcast.com
